Class Schedule

This is the general outline of the courses:

 

Class #1 - July 5th
Introduction & Class Overview
An explanation of the class and its ideals followed by a general overview of the system.

Class #2 - July 10th
Windows Introduction
This session will cover the installation & removal of software, file types, finding & moving files, and customizing the desktop.

Class #3 – July 12th
General Programs
This class will examine the principles of menus, where to look for settings, and keywords to be aware of. It is designed to illustrate the commonalities between different applications.

Class #4 – July 17th
Microsoft Word
Using the principles of the previous week, we will focus on fonts, formatting, tables, and other basic functions.

Class #5 – July 19th
Microsoft PowerPoint
This class will look at basic design, color, and effects as used in simple presentations.

Class #6 – July 24th
Microsoft Excel
This class will skim the surface of basic spreadsheet functions, making charts, and plotting graphs.

Class #7 – July 26th
The Internet
What it is, how it works, and basic SAFE surfing.

Class #8 – July 31st
Searching
The Internet was designed to share information. The trick is finding it. We'll look at ways to search for particular types of content (information, maps, images, videos) and particular search techniques.

Class #9 – August 2nd
Email
Topics include the basics, email applications, and attachments.
